Propagation
Sow fresh seed when ripe in containers and place in a cold frame or sow in a prepared bed. Seeds may require some stratification.


Botanic information
Leaf: The 4-sided acicular leaves are flattened pointing forward and spaced evenly around the light brown shoots. The apex is pointed and the leaves have a flexible texture. This species has the longest leaves in the genus.

Flower: The small male pollen cones appearing in the leaf axils and the terminal female strobili are reddish appearing upright on the branchlets during spring.

Fruit: The pendant cones are green, maturing to a purplish-brown with thin scales that contain 2-winged seeds.
