Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.

Botanic information
Leaf: The long, pendant acicular leaves are arranged in bundles of 3 and are pale-blue to grey green. They appear sparsely towards the end of the branches and the buds are narrow-cylindrical.

Flower: The tree is monoecious with the male catkin-like flowers appearing in a cluster and the reddish female strobili appear in pairs during spring.

Fruit: The large ovoid, dark brown stalked cones are up to 160mm (6?in) wide when open with scales that have a hooked spine at the apex. It takes up to 2-years to mature and the editable seeds are wingless.
