Propagation
Stratify fresh seeds for 2 months at 5º C (41ºF) then sow in spring and maintain a temperature of 12º to 15º C. (55º to 59º F).


Botanic information
Leaf: The oblong leaves on the sterile branchlets are arranged in groups of 4, closely pressed along the stem with only the pointed apex free. The lateral leaves are boat-shape and the fertile branchlets are simular but the smaller leaves are arranged spirally.

Flower: The tree is monoecious with oblong male cones that are yellowish green and appear at the end of the branchlets. The female cones are oblong with imbricate scales. Male and female strobili are found on different branches on the same tree during autumn.

Fruit: The pendant, oblong flattened female cone is up to 7mm (? in) wide and is reddish brown when mature in autumn and persist on the tree until spring. The imbricate woody scales are in 3-pairs with 2-awl-shaped seed per scale with 2-wings, one larger.
