Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glaucous-blue juvenile leaves are persistent on the tree for several years and the ridged adult acicular leaves are in bundles of 2. The buds are ovoid.

Flower: The tree is monoecious with the male catkin-like flowers appearing in a cluster and the reddish female strobili appears in pairs during spring.

Fruit: The stalked ovoid cones are glossy brown and the large winged seeds (pine nuts or pignolia nut) are editable. The cones mature in the second year.
