Propagation
Stratify fresh seeds for 2 to 3 months at 5º C (41ºF) then sow in spring and maintain a temperature of 12º to 15º C. (55º to 59º F).
Semi-hardwood cuttings taken during late summer to autumn.
Botanic information
Leaf: The small oblong leaves are arranged in 2-ranks around the pubescent stems. The apex is obtuse with the upper surface grooved and the underside has 2-bluish white bands. The leaves are strongly aromatic when crushed.
Flower: The tree is monoecious with reddish-purple female flowers and dark crimson male flowers. They appear during spring.
Fruit: The sessile ovoid cones are light brown with sub-orbicular scales and appear pendant on the branch tips. The tiny ovoid seeds have a straw-coloured wing.
