Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.
Note:
Late frost will damage the new growth and the tree is very drought tolerant.
Botanic information
Leaf: The acicular leaves are arranged in bundles of 2 to 3 and are crowded at the end of the shoots. The leaves are up to 12mm (½in) wide and have stomatic bands on both sides. The apex is sharply pointed and the tan-coloured sheath is up to 25mm (1in) long and is persistent.
Flower: The tree is monoecious with the male catkin-like yellow flowers appearing in a cluster and the reddish female strobili appear in pairs or in a cluster during spring.
