Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring in pots or boxes. The seeds germinate easily.
Cultivars are grafted during late winter.

Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a sight as the tree has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.


Botanic information
Leaf: The long thin, flat linear leaves have 2-silvery stomatic bands on the underside and have a camphor odour when crushed. They are arranged in 2-ranks with a 'V' shape parting and have an obtuse apex.

Flower: The flowers are monoecious and appear on 2-year old wood. The staminate (male) are orange-red, pendulous and appearing in the leaf axils. The pistillate (female) are red-green appear terminally with 3-excerted bracts. They appear during spring.

Fruit: The light brown pendant cones are up to 50mm (2in) wide with 3-pronged bracts that extend past the scales. Each scale contains 2-seeds and the cones start appearing on 20-year old trees.
