Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate. Seed may require a short period of stratification.


Botanic information
Leaf: The linear leaves are in bundles of 5 to 8 and are pendant from near the base with a stomatic band on the inside and have a shedding sheath up to 20mm (µin). The leaves are persistent on the glabrous branchlets for 3 to 4 years.

Flower: The tree is monoecious with the male strobili appearing in clusters at the base of the new leaves and the greenish female strobili appearing solitary or in pairs during early spring.

Fruit: The solitary oblong cones are up to 50mm (2in) wide with a stalk to 50mm (2in) long. The light brown cone takes up to 2-years to mature and becoming pendant.
