Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring in pots or boxes. Transplant seedlings into a prepared bed with added organic matter and space 200 mm (8in) apart.

Divide offsets during autumn and plant the bulbs up to 100m (4in) deep.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glaucous leaves are linear-lanceolate and strongly ribbed on the upper surface. The leaves are arranged basally with 2-3 in a cluster and sheathed. The apex is long acuminate and the texture is fleshy.

Flower: The stellate flowers have narrow linear perianth segments that are violet with a darker central nerve and have protruding violet stamens. The perianth segments become reflexed and twisted as they fade. There re up to 50-flowers arranged in a terminal umbel that is up to 100m (4in) wide and is held above the foliage on a slender scape up to 1m tall during early summer.
