Botanic information
Leaf: The blue green leaves are long lanceolate with whitish teeth along the margin and a terminal reddish spine at the acuminate apex. The texture is stiff, leathery and the leaves arch with age.
Flower: The funnelform flowers are arranged in a terminal panicle that is held above the plant on a tall leafless scape that is up to 4m (12ft) tall. The scape is produced from the centre of the leaf rosettes during summer and after flowering has finished, the leaves die off.
Fruit: The leathery capsule contains numerous dark seeds that are viable but the plant may be easily reproduced vegetatively.
