Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate. Maintain a temperature of 10º to 13º C. (50º to 55º F).
Divide offsets after flowering.
Note:
This plant requires a thick mulch in frost prone areas during winter.
Botanic information
Leaf: The long fleshy linear leaves are upright and arching with undulating margins. During summer the leaves die off as the plant becomes dormant.
Flower: The funnelform flowers have expanding oblong petals that are reflexed at the apex and have long protruding stamens. They are arranged in a terminal umbel consisting of 5 to 6 blooms and appears from spring to summer.
Fruit: The small capsule contains smooth round black seedsthat are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
