Propagation
Soak seeds over night in hot water to soften the hard seed coat. May be sown directly to the bed and germination will occur in 6 to 10 weeks.
Take soft tip cuttings during the growing period.
General pruning information
Lightly prune immediately after flowering to encourage a bushy habit and profuse increased flowering in the following season. Cutting back at other times during the year may cause dieback.
Note:
This plant is not commonly cultivated and may be difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green leaves are variable and can be simple (lanceolate) or pinnate with up to 9-leaflets. The apex is acute and the petiole is short.
Flower: The small stellate flowers have 4-petals and are arranged in a axillary cluster that appears during late winter.
Fruit: The tiny 4-locular brown capsule contains 2 or more minute seeds. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
