Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. The seeds may require scarification.
Note:
The small tree tolerates temporary inundation, shady dry and windy positions. It is also moderately lime tolerant and resistant to root rot fungus.
Botanic information
Leaf: The phyllode is linear to narrow oblong up to 3 mm (? in) wide with an acute apex and normally has a rounded gland at the base. The texture is leathery and the margin has a fringe of hairs. The colour varies from grey-green to dark green.
Flower: The many tiny tubulate flowers have numerous stamens and are arranged in a yellow in ball-like cluster to 7mm (¥in) wide with a slender peduncle. They are arrangedin a dense axillary raceme that appears from late winter to early spring.
Fruit: The flat legume is up to 4 mm (?in) white andcontains many small hard dark seeds that are up to 7mm (¥in) wide.
General information on pruning Acacia species
Tolerates a light prune after flowering back to a node, remove any dead wood back to the collar. If there is insufficient light towards the base of the tree prune the crown to allow the light in. The plants tend to be easily damaged by wind or borers, and damaged material should be removed.
