Botanic information
Leaf: The thick fleshy bluish grey green linear (kidney shaped) leaves are up to 20 mm (µ in) long and are covered in whit to greyish rough-tubercles. They are arranged in 2-ranks and normally the leaves are buried in the ground with only the truncate translucent apex showing, allowing light to the plant.
Flower: The green-keeled white 2-lipped tubulate flowers are up to 15 mm (? in) long and are arranged in a raceme that is up to 70 mm (2? in) long. This is held high above the foliage on a slender scape that is up to 230 mm (9 in) tall and appears from the centre of the plant during late spring and are pollinated by bees or sunbirds.
Fruit: The tiny loculicidal capsule has 3-valves and contains several seeds that are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
