Propagation
Collect and sow seed when ripe, keep moist, maintaining a temperature of 19º to 27º C. (66º to 81º F). Germination normally takes up to 120 days and the viability period is short. Do not allow the seeds to dry out before sowing.
Divide established clumps in spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green fronds ahve a slender petiole that is up to 350mm (18in) long and the fronds have of long linear arching leaflets that taper to a fine point.
Flower: The cyathiform flowers are dioecious and rarely produces female flowers. The inflorescence appears in the upper leaf sheaths as a short spine with varying number of branchlets. The flowers have 3-sepals and 3-petals and are arranged spirally on a branched panicle during spring.
Fruit: The small drupe is globose with a fleshy mesocarp containing 1 seed or lobed with each lobe having a seed and giving the appearance of separate fruit. The small seed is not commonly used and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
