Divide established clumps during late spring to early summer.


Botanic information
Leaf: The tiny awl leaves are reduced to the sheath at the base of the green stems and not normally seen.

Flower: The sessile flowers consist of 3-stamens, 3-branched styles and are arranged in a globular terminal cluster with the perianth segments reduced to a disk. One of the bracts is longer pointing out from the cluster and the flowers appear from late winter to early summer.

Fruit: The fruit is a 3-angular nut that is not commonly used and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
