Take stem or leaf cuttings during spring.
Sow seed as soon as ripe in a very well-drained media and prick out pot up when large enough to handle.
Botanic information
Leaf: The thick leathery textured grey green obovate to spathulate leaves are up to 350 mm (14 in) long by 255 mm (10 in) wide and have slightly undulating margins that may be reddish. Mature glaborous leaves are flushed purplish pink and new growth is reddish. They are arranged alternately and form a rosette that it is up to 600 mm (2 ft) wide.
Flower: The red to pinkish campanulate flowers are up to 25 mm (1 in) long with 5-unequal spreading greenish sepals that are up to 10 mm (? in) longand 5-pointed keeled petals. The stamens are enclosed with creamy anthers and the pedicle is up to 4 mm (? in) long. They are arranged in a unbranched raceme that is up to 1 m (6 ft) tall above the foliage from late autumn to early winter.
Fruit: The small follicle appears in a cluster and contains many tiny seeds. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
