Propagation
Sow seed when ripe in pots and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F), apply bottom heat.


Botanic information
Leaf: The large strongly arching pinnate fronds open slowly taking up to 5 months and are reddish when young. The pointed leaflets are up to 1000mm (3ft) long and 100mm (4in) wide. The petiole is short and the leaflets become smaller towards the apex.

Flower: The creamy-white to pink male and greenish female crateriform flowers are arranged in groups of 3 on the short stalked panicle. It is up to 300mm (1ft) long appearing below the crown shaft from spring to early summer. The female flowers have imbricate petals and contain 1-cell.
Flowering and fruiting in a tropical climate may occur throughout the year.

Fruit: The large fleshy ellipsoid pome is up to 25mm (1in) wide and is green maturing to crimson. It contains an ovoid seed with white endosperm.
