Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 24º C. (66º to 77º F).
It is difficult to transplant or divide the suckers.


Botanic information
Leaf: The pinnate fronds have short stalks with 15 to 20 lanceolate leaflets that are up to 20mm (µ in)wide. There are slender hooked wiped-like hairs (flagella) that arise from the leaf axil and the fronds are spaced evenly along the stems. The leaf margins are also armed with spines.

Flower: The small male and female flowers are found on separate plants and are arranged on the upper side of the branched panicle. The inflorescence has a tubular bract that persists during flowering and the flowers have 3-petals and sepals. They appear from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The globular pome has imbricate scales and the mesocarp is thin and dry.
