Propagation
Stratify fresh seeds for 2 to 3 months at 5º C (41ºF) then sow in spring and maintain a temperature of 12º to 15º C. (55º to 59º F).
Take semi hardwood cuttings during summer and apply bottom heat.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dull green leaves are narrow-oblong and the margin is entire with an obtuse apex that has small teeth which are tipped in red. The short petiole and the leaf surface are covered in a whitish pubescence.
Flower: The tubulate flowers have a tube that splits on one side with an exserted upward curving orange style. The ovary is sessile and contains 1-ovule. The flowers are arranged in an axillary cluster that is surrounded by bracts and appears from spring to early summer.
Fruit: The tiny fruit is a whitish nutlet and the small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
