Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification.

Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the growing period.


Botanic information
Leaf: The blue-green phyllodes are obliquely oval with the lower margin parallel to the stem and accompanied by the straight mid-nerve. The apex is acuminate to mucronate and the petiole is short. A raised gland is present on or near the angle of the top margin.

Flower: There are 10 to 35 bright yellow tubulate flowers arranged in small globular head with a short smooth pedicle and up to 20 flower heads are arranged in an axillary raceme or in some cases arranged in a terminal panicle. They appear during early spring.

Fruit: The mature pods are reddish brown and immature pods are slightly pubescent. They are flat constructed around the seeds and it has nerve-like margins. The black oblong seeds are up to 5mm (¥in) long with a club-shaped aril.


General information on pruning Acacia species
Tolerates a light prune after flowering back to a node, remove any dead wood back to the collar. If there is insufficient light towards the base of the tree prune the crown to allow the light in. The plants tend to be easily damaged by wind or borers, and damaged material should be removed.
