Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27º C. (66º to 81º F).
Divide established clumps (rhizome) after flowering or in late summer.
Note:
If ingested it may cause stomach upset and contact with the sap may cause skin irritation.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are oblong-elliptical to broad lanceolate with a leathery corrugated texture. The margin is undulating and the slender petiole normally equals the length of the leaf. The apex is acuminate.
Flower: The small apetalous bisexual flowers are arranged in a spadix that is enclosed in a white spathe that is up to 170mm (7in) long. In warm climates they appear throughout the year but generally from spring to summer.
Fruit: The berry contains small seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
