Propagation
Divide established clumps (rhizome) during early spring while dormant.
Botanic information
Leaf: The mid-green leaves are broad-ovate and may have a cordate base with a short petiole. The margins may be undulating and the apex is acuminate. The stemmed leaves are arranged alternately and the upper surface has prominent veins and hairs.
Flower: There are 3-5 rotate flowers have a long pedicle and persistent sepals and are in shades of blue with a white centre. They are arranged in a terminal raceme up to 250mm (10in) tall and appear during spring.
Fruit: The 4-small nutlets are arranged horizontally and may have toothed margins. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
