Botanic information
Leaf: The large dark glossy green leaves are broad-ovate with a cordate base and tend to form in an upright funnel-shape. The petiole is long and the apex is acute. The upper surface is prominently ribbed giving it a pleated appearance and the underside is dull green.
Flower: The flowers are campanulate to salverform and are arranged in a terminal cyme that appears from spring to early summer. The flower colour is pale blue to blue and may have whitish margins.
Fruit: The tiny schizocarpic nut contains 2-cells with 2-seeds. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
