Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27º C. (66º to 81º F).
Divide established clumps from late spring to early summer.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are narrow-lanceolate to linear and the underside of the leaves have longitudinal silvery stripes or scales. The texture is stiff and smooth with sharp spines along the margins. The colour is a bronze-green and is a feature of the plant.
Flower: The small orange tubulate flowers are arranged in a terminal panicle that is up to 1m (3ft) tall and appears above the foliage during spring.
Fruit: The berry contains small seeds that are not commonly used and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
