Propagation
Sow fresh seed in trays during spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F) and place the trays in a shaded position.
Take semi-hardwood cuttings taken during late summer to autumn and dipped into hormone gel.
Botanic information
Leaf: The smaller juvenile leaves are oval and the adult leaves are oblong to oval. The margin is coarsely toothed and the petiole is short and the apex is obtuse. The leaf has no stipules and the surface has a marbled appearance with dark green veins.
Flower: The tiny cyathiform flowers have 5-sepals and 5-deciduous petals. They are arranged densely in an axillary or terminal panicle that appears from late spring to summer.
Fruit: The globose fleshy capsule is glossy black and contains many seeds that are very viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
