Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 24º C. (66º to 77º F).

Take semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer and apply bottom heat.

This species may be difficult to obtain from nurseries.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green bipinnate leaves have lanceolate leaflets up to 100mm (4in) long, commonly with unequal sides and widely spaced serrations. It has short petiole up to 12mm (½in) long and an acute apex.

Flower: The stellate flowers are up to 12mm (½in) long and have expanded rolled petals with a protruding bent green style. They are arranged in a spike-like raceme that is up to 200mm (8in) long and when young it is covered in rusty coloured hairs. They appear during midsummer.

Fruit: The boat-shaped follicle contains 12-flattened seeds up to 30mm (1¥in) long and are overlapping and arranged in 2 rows. The seeds have a membranous wing for aerial dispersal and are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
