Propagation
Sow seed when ripe and place in an open frame to germinate. This is normally during mid summer maintaininga temperature of 10º to 13º C. (50º to 55º F).

Takes stem cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the growing period.

Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a sight as the tree has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dull green leaves are variable. The young leaves are lanceolate up to 100mm (4in) long and 13mm (½in) wide and the adult leaves are linear-oblong with an obtuse apex. The leaves are arranged oppositely or alternately and turn bronze-colour during winter.

Flower: The cylindrical male strobili is up to 40mm (1½in) long and the female cones are globose. They appear from spring to early summer.

Fruit: The cylindrical female cone has flat broad scales that fall away from the axis when mature and the compressed ovate shaped seed is winged. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
