Propagation
Stratify seeds for 2 to 3 months during winter and sow seeds in pots then place them in a cold frame.

Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green leaves are elliptical to sub-orbicular and up to 100mm (4in) wide with a coarsely toothed margin. They are glabrous but may have tufts of hairs in the vein axils. The apex is acuminate and the petiole is up to 25mm (1in) long.

Flower: The tiny tubulate flowers have 5-expanding whitish lobes with exserted yellowish stamens and are arranged in a terminal corymb-like cyme that has an upright peduncle to 50mm (2in) long. They appear from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The small drupe contains grooved seeds that are viable but the species often hybridise. To maintain continuity it is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
