Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.
Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a sight as the tree has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.
Botanic information
Leaf: The mature mid-green acicular leaves are arranged in bundles of three and the juvenile needles are glaucous green and appear singularly, persisting on the tree for some years.
Flower: The male catkin-like flowers are reddish becoming yellow and appear in pairs or in a small cluster at the end of the branches. The female cones appear on a long peduncle during spring.
Fruit: The ovoid brown cones may take up to one year to mature and contains winged seeds.
