Propagation
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the growing period and reduce leaves by half.
The plant can be grafted on to the cultivar 'Ned Kelly' for the eastern states of Australia.
Note:
This plant regenerates from seed or lignotuber after fire.
Botanic information
Leaf: The pinnate leaves grow to 100mm (4in) wide with up to 21 oblong leaflets that are also divided (bipinnatifid). The texture is leathery and the leaflets are shapely pointed. The leaf colour is dark green with yellow margins to blue green in some forms.
Flower: The small tubular flowers have curled petals and a protruding curved style up to 40mm (1½in) long. The flowers are arranged in a pendant spike up to 200mm (8in) long and may appear from autumn to late spring in warm regions. Bird pollinated.
Fruit: The elliptical follicle is up to 10mm (?in) wide with a thin pubescent pericarp that has reddish blotches. The elliptical seeds are up to 15mm (?in) long with a wing on the margins. The plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
