Propagation
Sow fresh seed singularly in a pot during spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).
General pruning information
These plants tolerate a light prune to a node normally after flowering. Do not prune into old wood as it will not regenerate and if the plant has become leggy and woody it will not regenerate after a hard prune. It requires replacement.
Botanic information
Leaf: The stiff dark green acicular leaves are terete and have a pointed apex.
Flower: The tubulate flowers are white at first then turn to red with age. They are arranged in an axillary cluster towards the end of the branches and appear from winter to early spring.
Fruit: The woody follicle has a warty texture and tapers to a point and contains winged seeds.
