Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours.
Take soft tip or semi hardwood cuttings from summer to autumn. This plant is difficult to transplant as it has a fine root system.
General pruning information
Lightly prune immediately after flowering to encourage a bushy habit and for profuse increased flowering in the following season. Cutting back at other times during the year may cause dieback.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green bipinnate leaves have 3 to 9 linear leaflets that are toothed or lobed at the acute apex. The lobes may develop into secondary leaflets and the leaf texture is leathery.
Flower: The small white to pink cyathiform flowers have 4-petals and are arranged in a axillary cyme with 3 or more blooms and appear during late winter.
Fruit: The small 4-locular capsule is explosive with one seed in each loculus. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
