Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).
Take stem cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the growing period.
Note:
This plant requires perfect drainage and may be difficult to obtain from nurseries. There are grafted plants available and are more tolerant to different soils.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile broad-ovate leaves have a thick texture that is semi glossy and tend to arch backwards. They are arranged densely along the stem and are a feature of the plant.
Flower: The tiny cyathiform flowers have 5-short petals with protruding red stamens that are up to 25mm (1in) long and are arranged in a dense axillary cluster that appears from spring to early summer.
Fruit: The woody capsule produces tiny viable seeds but the plant may be easily reproduced vegetatively.
