Botanic information
Leaf: The large ovate leaves may have 3-triangular lobes and an acuminate apex. The petiole is long and the leaf base may be cordate. The underside is dull green with prominentvenation. The juvenile leaves have no lobes and may be covered in brownish hairs.
Flower: The small stellate flowers are arranged in a terminal panicle and the flowers and fruit occur on the plant at the same time. In tropical regions flowers may appear throughout the year but in cooler climates they appear during summer.
Fruit: The drupe has a rough texture and is globular or two-lobed. The seeds (nuts) may be eaten once roasted or used as fuel or for dyes. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
