Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green leaves are linear to oblong with a long slender petiole. The leaf is arching with undulating margins and tends to fold upwards along the mid rib. The texture is leathery and the apex is acuminate.
Flower: The tubular flowers have 3-long linear petals, 3-sepals that are slightly shorter than the bracts. The boat-shaped bracts are red and arranged in a single plane on a slender erect scape that is up to 700mm (28in) tall and the flowers appear in a spike from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The small capsule breaks up in to berry-like fruit but the small seed is not commonly used and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively
