Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 27º to 30º C. (81º to 86º F).
Take root cuttings or division of suckers throughout the year.
Aerial layering is carried out during the growing period.
Botanic information
Leaf: The large leaves have an ovate outline with up to 12-deep linear-like lobes with acuminate apex. The texture is leathery and the petiole is short.
Flower: The tiny female flowers are arranged in spherical spike and the male flowers are arranged in an oblong spike. Both male and female flowers are found on the same tree and the flowering period in tropical regions may occur throughout the year.
Fruit: The yellow green pome is ovoid and contains a starchy flesh. The fruit may be cooked or boiled prior to eating. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
