Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 12º to 15º C. (55º to 59º F).
Take semi-hardwood cuttings taken during summer apply bottom heat.
Botanic information
Leaf: The bright green pinnate leaves have 8 to 15 oblong to oval leaflets that are up to 60mm (2¥in) long and are reddish-bronze when young. The apex is obtuse to emarginate and the leaflets are arranged oppositely along the rachis on short petiole.
Flower: The small stalked red papillionate flowers have 5-inconspicuous petals and 4-large spreading sepals with protruding red stamens. They are arranged in a crowded terminal panicle that is up to 130mm (5in) long andmay be nodding or pendant. They appear from early to late summer.
Fruit: The large leathery bean-like pods contain large rounded seeds. The seeds may be eaten after roasting or are very viable for propagation but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
