Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn in pots and place in an open frame to germinate.
Take hardwood cuttings taken during winter and soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots from late spring to early summer.
Botanic information
Leaf: The light green pinnate leaves have 5 to 7 sessile leaflets that are lanceolate to oval and are up to 150mm (6in) long. The apex is acuminate and the serrated margins are undulate. The small brownish buds may be solitary with a few scales.
Flower: The tiny white rotate flowers are arranged in a large convex terminal cyme that is up to 200mm (8in) wide and appear during summer.
Fruit: The small berry-like drupe is purple to black when ripe and is bird attracting. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
