Propagation
Sow fresh seed, after scarification, during autumn in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dull green leaves are broad-ovate to obovate with a mucronate apex and a very short petiole (to 6mm - ¥in long). They are glabrous and the underside is slightly pubescent. In autumn the leves turn red-bronze and are persistent on the plant.
Flower: The small white crateriform flowers are tinged in red and are arranged in pairs or appear solitary during summer.
Fruit: The small bright red spherical pome appears abundantly and is a feature of the plant. The solitary fruit contains 3-nutlets and the small seeds are viable but the plant may be easily reproduced vegetatively.
