Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.
Take semi-hardwood cuttings taken during summer apply bottom heat and hardwood cuttings during winter.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery textured dark green oval leaves have a short petiole and obtuse apex. The twigs and underside of the leaves are densely pubescent and during autumn the leaves have a purplish tinge before falling.
Flower: The tiny white tubulate flowers have 4-petals and are arranged in a nodding panicle that is up to 50mm (2in) long and appears during midsummer.
Fruit: The blue-black spherical berry is arranged in a dense drooping cluster. The seed is very viable for a short period and is dispersed by birds and water but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
