Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.

Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during spring.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green elliptical leaves have a leathery texture and are pubescent on the underside. The apex is acute and the petiole is up to 20mm (?in) long. The green buds are red-tinged and apressed with 5-6 scales.

Flower: The small 4-petaled mauve stellate flowers are arranged in an axillary branched cyme that appears during spring and are normally inconspicuous.

Fruit: The capsule has 1 to 4 lobes and contain seeds with an orange-red aril. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be easily reproduced vegetatively.
