Propagation
Stratify seeds for 1 month during winter in peat at a temperature of 1.1º to 5º C. (34º to 41º F). Sow seeds in pots then place them in a cold frame to germinate.
Botanic information
Leaf: The bright green linear leaves have 2-white stomatic bands on the underside and the slightly notched apex is obtuse. They are arranged on the upper side of the branchlets and crowded together along the stems.
Flower: The small male cones are bright light green and the upright female cone becomes a dark purple-blue as it matures. They appear during spring.
Fruit: The cylindrical cones are violet-blue when mature and have hidden bracts. Each scale and contains 2-winged seeds.
