Propagation
Stratify fresh seeds for 1 month during winter and sow in pots, then place in a cold frame to germinate.

Take hardwood cuttings taken during winter take up to 8 months to form roots.


Botanic information
Leaf: The flattened linear leaves are arranged forward and upwards along the branchlets, almost 2-ranked and have an acute apex that may be notched. The underside has two longitudinal silver bands and the leaves are commonly curved.

Flower: The small male cones are round and the upright yellow-green female cones are broad with round scales. They appear during spring.

Fruit: The erect bright yellow to olive-green smooth cones have deciduous scales with hidden bracts. It is up to 45mm (1µin) wide. The seeds are up to 12mm (½in) long with a reddish tinted broad wing.The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
