Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn in a prepared bed or in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.

Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring and semi hardwood Cuttings during late summer.
Layering is carried out during the growing period.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green leaves are oblong to elliptical with an obtuse apex and a densely pubescent long petiole. The upper surface has prominent veins with a rugose texture.

Flower: The yellowish-white tubulate flowers are arranged in a dense flattened terminal (umbel-like) cyme that is up to 100mm (4in) wide and appears during spring.

Fruit: The one seeded ovoid drupe is bright red turning to black when mature in autumn and persists on the plant into winter. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively in order to maintain true to type.
