Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn in a prepared bed or in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring and semi hardwood cuttings during late summer.
Layering is carried out during the growing period.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are 3-lobed or oblong-lanceolate with no lobes. The upper surface is glabrous and the underside is slightly pubescent and the petiole is up to 75mm (1µin) long.The young leaves are bronze maturing to dark green then turning yellow-red in autumn before falling.
Flower: The small fertile white tubulate flowers have purple anthers and are surrounded by crateriform shaped ray-florets that are up to 20mm (µin) wide. These are arranged in a flat corymb that is up to 100mm (4in) wide and appear during early summer.
Fruit: The one seeded berry-like drupe is bright red turning to black when mature during autumn, and persists on the plant into winter. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be easily reproduced vegetatively.
