Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.

Take semi-hardwood cuttings taken during summer.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery textured cordate leaves are glabrous above and have an abruptly acuminate apex and is deeply cordate at the base. There is no terminal bud and the small imbricate laterals are flattened and appressed with 2-visible scales that are marginally pubescent.

Flower: The small papillionate flowers have pale pink standard petals that are marked in dark pink and are arranged in a cluster of 3 to 8 and appear before the foliage during early spring.

Fruit: The pendant pods (legumes) are flat and elongated and are up to 75mm (3in) long and 12mm (½in) wide. The fruit may persist through winter and the seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
