Propagation
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer and hardwood cuttings during winter.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile glossy dark green leaves are lanceolate to oblanceolate and the margin is finely serrated. The underside is pail green with touches of purple and the apex is acuminate. The base cuneate with a petiole up to 10mm (?in) long.
Flower: The silky male and female catkins are found on separate trees, and appear on the previous seasons growth during spring. The male catkins produce purple anthers that turn yellow and are a feature of the plant.
Fruit: The small capsule isnot commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
