Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green leaves are elliptical to oblong with entire to slightly toothed margin. The texture is thick and the apex is abruptly acuminate.
Flower: The small nodding urceolate flowers appear in the leaf axils at the end of the branchlets. The petals are fused with the ends reflexed outwards and the pedicle is fleshy. They appear solitary during spring..
Fruit: The spherical deep red berries are aromatic. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
