Graft cultivars during late winter on to rootstock and bud during summer.

Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green leaves are obovate to broad oval with an acute apex and a short petiole. During autumn the leaves turn shades of yellow to deep orange before falling and are a feature of the plant.

Flower: The red to yellow crateriform flowers have 4-twisted linear petals. They are arranged in an axillary sessile cluster or have a very short peduncle and appear during winter.

Fruit: The capsule contains small black seeds that are viable but the species often hybridise. To maintain continuity it is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
